Artist Statement
In my work I try to portray every face of human society 'As it is'. I take my work through a very simple process of observation and manifestation in any medium available to me. I put less analytical approach in forming the characters but I certainly give importance to every detail that weaves the whole pictures of the story. I strongly believe that everything in our society and culture have an immense intrinsic value. Thus, I end up giving equal importance to love and loathe’s of our existence. I do figurative in exaggerated, distorted and cinematic style. This according to me is very convenient for the masses to understand and reflect upon their past, present and future.
Artist Biography
Shiv Kumar Swami is a Visual Artist ,who lives and works in Mumbai,"City of Dreams’’. At an early age, pictures on Street wall paintings and Books were the favourite medium of self learning for him and later to quench his thirst for the love of art he enrolled himself in Thane School of Art and completed his A.T.D & G.D Art (Drawing & Painting) in 2015. He further gained experience & interdisciplinary understanding of relevant narration skills from cinematic industry. He enriched his experience of the dark corner of this city through first hand observations. These observations ranges from the chawl to the high rising city. The perspective developed by him draws out from these observations only. According to him the inequality, the ups and downs, small joys and sorrows in life are what collectively portrays us as a person and as a society as well. If we look at his work, we find that these are the amalgamation of stories that speak of current relevant situations pertaining in society. His passion for visual art & paintings have helped him grow as a fine artist. To him his works are not just the messages for others but the deep emotions that one need to reflect back to express the inner feelings.
